Quiver Management’s strategy development work with egg incubation specialists Brinsea Products created ambitious plans to grow its turnover from £3 million to £5 million in the next three years.

The company, the global market leader for small incubators, opened new premises in Weston-super-Mare earlier this month and has recently secured new partnerships with distributors such as Amazon and Screwfix.

It is now perfectly placed to achieve the 60% growth plans developed by Brinsea Products’ managing director Ian Pearce and his senior leadership team, with their Quiver Management business coach’s help.

About Brinsea Products

Brinsea Products was set up in 1976 by Mr Pearce’s father Frank – a bird enthusiast and engineer. Today it is run by Ian, employing 38 people and developing, manufacturing and selling a range of incubators and brooders, with customers ranging from the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge in Gloucestershire, to zoos, conservation organisations and universities throughout the world.

Brinsea is the global market leader for small incubators with approximately 15% of the market share and a turnover of £3.2 million. Some 80% of Brinsea’s production is exported and it has 35 worldwide distributors in companies as diverse as Angola and Venezuela.

Since its humble beginnings Brinsea has developed into a highly professional team, each member of which is properly qualified for the job. However, Brinsea is still very much a family business devoted to the production of bird breeding products of the finest quality and value for money, and to the best possible service to customers.

To help with Brinsea Products’ growth plans, Ian Pearce was put in touch with Quiver Management.

Strategy development

The Quiver Management coach facilitated a strategy development process where the senior management team developed a shared three-year vision and strategy for the business. This is an ambitious vision that will take the business from just over £3 million to £5 million in three years.

Brinsea is well on their way to implement their strategies and plans. The company moved into new premises in Weston-super-Mare in February 2015 – former RSPB president and TV presenter Kate Humble was at the official opening event – and has also added three new members to its product development team. With the increase in capacity and capability in the R&D department, Brinsea can now accelerate its product development plans.

And with the securing of new partnerships with distributors such as Amazon and Screwfix, Brinsea Products is now well placed to achieve its ambitious growth goals.

Invaluable support from Quiver Management – Ian Pearce testimonial

Ian praised Jan’s advice and support throughout the duration of the Growth Accelerator programme: “It was suggested that Jan would be ideal to handle the programme and from our initial meeting I could see it would work. He’s been invaluable.”

“He was very experienced, intelligent, methodical and rigorous and helped facilitate a series of meetings between the management team, drawing out the various necessary actions and providing the framework for us to create our plans from.”

“Our growth will be driven by new product development and a major part of that was getting in the people that we needed, so our development team has grown from two to five people. We’ve given them a fairly heavy programme of work to get their teeth into.”
