This one-day Master Class is designed for advisers and planners who have previously attended the “Interpersonal Skills for Financial Advisers” workshop and would like to develop their interpersonal skills further.

The Master Class builds on the skills and techniques learned at the “Interpersonal Skills for Financial Advisers and Planners” workshop. The training will increase the participants’ self-awareness of their own preferences and style, and will explore how financial advisers and planners can use powerful emotional intelligence (EI) techniques in their client conversations. It will explore how they can adapt their own style and apply EI to improve their communication and influencing skills. The training will also address how they can use these skills to improve how they work with couples including managing conflicting interests.

Course content

The course will help the participants:

  • Understand how emotional intelligence can help financial advisers and planners move beyond logic and influence at a deeper level
  • Increase their self-awareness of their personal style and preferences and how these can be helpful and sometimes get in the way
  • Adapt their style to different clients to increase impact and influence
  • Learn how to pick-up on, interpret and respond to non-verbal communication
  • Enhance their communication skills
  • Explore how to use the tools and skills when working with couples
  • Improve their conflict management and diplomacy skills
  • Apply the new tools and understanding back in their financial practice
  • Using reflection to ensure continuous improvement

The training workshop is interactive and practical; mixing theory with conversation exercises. The participants will also receive a course workbook with descriptions of the models and techniques shared during the workshop.

Please note that it is NOT a requirement that the participants have attended the one-day “Interpersonal Skills for Financial Advisers and Planners” workshop before attending the advanced course, although we do recommend it.
